B’nai Tzedek
After the religious service and the party are over and after the thank you notes have finally been written and mailed, a B’nai Tzedek Fund can keep the memories of your bar/bat mitzvah in your mind forever.
The B’nai Tzedek program teaches teens about philanthropy by enabling them to establish charitable endowments in their own names with the Foundation for Planned Giving. Teens contribute a minimum of $300 from their b’nai mitzvah gifts and receive a $200 grant from the Lewis D. Cole B’nai Tzedek Fund. These endowments grow through additional donations as well as investment income. Anyone can contribute to a B’nai Tzedek fund at any time. Additional donations are a great way to mark birthdays, confirmations and other special occasions.
Once a year, teens make recommendations for distributions to qualifying charitable organizations from the allocable portion of their funds.
