Berlin 36 will be shown followed by a discussion with Ann Dorzback, the first cousin of the athlete, Greta Bergmann. Inspired by the true story of Jewish high jumper, Greta Bergmann, this film portrays a remarkable piece of forgotten Olympic history. Bergmann was considered a top contender for the gold medal during the Nazi controlled 1936 Summer Games. However, the Americans threatened an Olympic boycott if Jewish athletes were barred from competing. So, the Nazis conspire to replace her with an uber-athlete.

The Jewish Film Festival is showing Berlin 36 on April 15 at 4:00 at the Village 8.  Prices are:  $8.50 in advance; $10 at the door.  Students are $6. This will be shown in conjunction with Yom Hashoa.
