Shalom Sesame is a new a DVD series set on Rechov Sumsum, a street in Israel, in a Sesame-created neighborhood with a mix of Israelis. Religious and secular, Russian and Ethiopian immigrants, Jews and Arabs, adults and children living alongside a cast of Muppets - including Oscar the Grouch’s Israeli cousin, Moishe Oofnik. The beloved Muppet, Grover, is a visitor to Rechov Sumsum.

Through Grover’s Israel experience, the young viewer will be exposed to the diversity of Israel and Jewish life. In honor of the series’ launch, the 92nd Street Y is broadcasting the premiere of Shalom Sesame’s 30-minute Hanukah episode on December 5. The broadcast will include a special visit from Grover live on the Y’s stage! The free broadcast will be an excellent supplement to your organization’s Hanukkah festival or early education curriculum.
